Embracing cultural contrasts in Pfarrkirchen
For Oscar the biggest differences between his home in South America and Pfarrkirchen are the culture and the environment. Here in Lower Bavaria everything is lush and green outside, which Oscar likes. Even though it is a totally different world when it comes to culture, he really likes the area and had set himself the goal of staying here after his graduation. His determination paid off and he found a job nearby. Being brave and to focus on one´s objectives is something Oscar also recommends to everyone who comes to the ECRI for their studies. His next goal is to master the German language.
Even though Oscar has fully adapted to the German lifestyle, he still misses family, friends and food from home. In terms of food he would really love to introduce the typical Ecuadorian Plátano (plantain) to the people of Pfarrkirchen. He also thinks that salsa music would be a welcome change for the locals.
What Oscar likes about the ECRI is the diversity and that people from different places around the world meet here. His favourite place as a student was the Mensateria where he met his friends and fellow students over lunch or for a coffee.
