Finding a new love for Bavarian food
Pfarrkirchen is a really nice and peaceful place, says Namadee. The reason she came here was that she had always dreamed of becoming an engineer with a focus on the environment. She came to the ECRI to study Energy Systems Engineering, which combines her interest in engineering with her passion for the environment.
Namadee enjoys the meadows, peaceful surroundings and beautiful farmhouses here, and she wants to show them to her family when they come to visit. Despite some initial challenges, Namadee has adapted quickly to her new life. Her favourite German word is “Hallo”, which has helped her connect with the locals. Her part-time job as a sushi chef has allowed her to practise her language skills and make friends with nice people. If offered a good job in the Rottal- Inn region, Namadee would like to stay because she loves the area and the people.
While Namadee loves Bavarian food, especially “Breze”, a type of bread unique to the region, she misses Sri Lankan food like Koththu. She has not been able to find any Sri Lankan restaurants or markets in Pfarrkirchen, so she is keen to find the ingredients to cook her favourite dishes at home.
