Our region, Eastern Bavaria, is well-connected by trains for long distances and buses for city travel. Additionally, you can also use on-call buses and shared cabs. For an eco-friendly option, consider biking.
If you’re living a bit away from campus, don't worry. Our excellent public transportation system makes it easy to commute.

DIT students can now travel across Germany on public transport for just €29 per month with the discounted Deutschland-Ticket. Here’s how to get it:
How it works:
1. Download the App: Install the “NETINERA-Tickets” app on your smartphone and create an account.
2. Verify Your Student Status: In the app, go to your profile, select 'Settings' (Einstellungen), then 'Credentials' (Berechtigungsnachweise). Choose DIT (THD) and log in with your student email.
3. Purchase Your Ticket: The discounted ticket will appear in the app. You can buy it directly from there.
How it works:
- Validity: The Bavarian discount ticket serves as a full Germany ticket, valid on buses, trams, metro, suburban trains, and regional trains nationwide.
- Duration: The ticket automatically renews as long as you are enrolled at DIT.
- Cancellation: If needed, you must cancel by the 10th of the month before.

Deggendorf district bus routes
For long-distance transport, there are various providers such as flixbus.de.
Deggendorf Station (Waldbahn)
- From Deggendorf station you can take the Waldbahn:
- To Plattling: Take the Waldbahn train from Deggendorf to Plattling, where you can catch Deutsche Bahn services to various destinations including Munich, Passau, and Regensburg.
- To Regen and Freyung-Grafenau: The Waldbahn also heads in the opposite direction towards the districts of Regen and Freyung-Grafenau.
Getting to DIT Campus from the Station
- Walking: It's about a 20-minute walk from Deggendorf train station to the DIT campus.
- Bus Service: Buses numbered 1, 2, and 3 run every 20 minutes, connecting the train station to the campus.
The on-call bus operates on a fixed schedule but stops only when requested. You can be picked up directly at your chosen stop and taken quickly to your destination stop, even if you are the only passenger. Once booked, the bus or taxi will charge the regular bus ticket price.
- Advance Booking Required: You need to book your ride in advance, anywhere from 60 minutes to 2 days before your desired travel time, depending on the transport provider.
- Check Local Regulations: Please refer to the specific rules of your county for detailed booking instructions.
In Deggendorf, there are 139 pickup points for the call-and-collect taxi, each marked with the AST logo. This service allows you to travel within the city to your chosen destination at specified departure times, similar to regular bus services.
How to Use the Service:
- Booking: Order the taxi at least 30 minutes before your desired departure time by calling 0991/24624 or using the AST App.
- Departure: Go to your designated pickup point at the scheduled time.
- Ticket: You’ll receive a ticket once you're in the taxi.
- Pricing: Fares are calculated based on the number of fare zones crossed. Adults pay between €5 and €8, while children under 5 travel for free.

The bicycle is a convenient, inexpensive and environmentally friendly means of transportation. There are well-developed cycle paths everywhere, so you can reach your destination flexibly and easily.
There are numerous opportunities to park your bike at the Deggendorf campus.

Pfarrkirchen Train Station (Deutsche Bahn):
- From Pfarrkirchen Station, you can easily reach Munich Station and from there connect to other destinations by travelling to Mühldorf and from there getting a connection to Munich.
From the train station to the Campus
- Walking: It takes about 18 minutes to walk from Pfarrkirchen Station to the campus.
- Bus Option: Bus Line 2 operates hourly from the station to the Galgenberg/European Campus stop. It is an approximate 14 minutes journey to the campus.
Bicycling is an affordable and eco-friendly way to get around. The area boasts extensive cycle paths, making it easy to travel flexibly to your desired destinations.

- alex Train: Connects to Schwandorf, Regensburg, and Munich.
- From Schwandorf, you can catch Deutsche Bahn trains to Nuremberg and Munich.
- Oberpfalzbahn Train: Takes you to Waldmünchen, Furth im Wald, Bad Kötzting, Roding, and Lam.
Getting to the Campus from Cham Station:
- Walking: It's about a 25-minute walk from Cham Station to the campus.
- Bus Service: Bus Line 101 operates hourly from the station to the Floßhafen stop. From there, it’s about a 10-minute walk to the campus.
The on-call bus complements public transport. The on-call bus only operates with minibuses and according to a fixed timetable if ordered in advance. Only those stops for which an order has been placed are served. The on-call bus takes the passenger directly and punctually to the transfer stop or to the desired stop on the on-call bus route. At present, a maximum of eight people can travel at the same time.
