Master.
Campus Cham is growing rapidly. After only one Bachelor's degree programme was offered in the first years of its existence, the number of students has been increasing immensely in recent years with the expansion of the range of courses. There are now around 600 young people studying at the newest campus of Deggendorf Institute of Technology in Cham. As at DIT's two other campuses, internationality is also a priority in Cham. There are currently students from more than 40 nations on campus - and the trend is rising.
What is special about the Campus Cham is that its students are offered a continuous professional perspective. After the undergraduate Bachelor's programme in Mechatronics and Project Management for Digital Production, which is offered in German, graduates can choose from four consecutive Master's programmes in English - the Master's in Mechatronic and Cyber-Physical Systems, Artificial Intelligence for Smart Sensors and Actuators, Applied AI for Digital Production Management as well as Intelligent Robotics.
The new Bachelor's and Master's programmes have been aligned with the most current issues in the fields of Mechatronics and Artificial Intelligence in order to meet the increasing demand on the labour market. Industry 4.0, Additive Manufacturing, Smart Factory, IOOT, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Robotics, Smart Sensors and Actuators, Machine Learning, Big Data, Data Analysis, Autonomous Systems - these keywords are just a few examples to show the broad spectrum of study content.
All under one roof. Students at the Campus Cham benefit enormously from the close relationship that campus fosters with regional and national companies in the field of mechatronics. Both the Research and Development Centre (Technology Campus), the Digital Start-up Centre Cham, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce as well as parts of the Mechatronics Competence Network in Eastern Bavaria are located next door to the Cham Campus. This synergy of theory and practice is distinctive and enables students to learn in an application-oriented and scientific way in equal measure.
The individual support on campus is unique. Studies take place in personal supervision and small study groups. In the application process, an aptitude test is conducted for the Master's programmes in order to create a homogeneous study environment. The administration is also flexible and pursues an open-door policy to make it easier for international students in particular to settle in. This was confirmed during the accreditation of the study programmes. Online learning has already been implemented before the special Corona situation - be it in terms of eLectures, eAssessments or eTraining - and continuously developed further. Owing to the topicality of the study content, a large number of experts from professional practice support the teaching at Campus Cham.

Campus Cham offers a unique atmosphere. Located directly on the banks of the river Regen in southeast Germany, students can complete their studies, relax and socialise in a scenic riverside environment with only 10 minutes walk to the town centre. Cham is a lively country town with moderate living costs, hosting many leisure and cultural events. It is located in the stunnning Bavarian Forest, which together with the Bohemian Forest, forms the largest contiguous forest mountain range in Central Europe.
If you do not have your own car, a flat in the town of Cham is recommended. Inexpensive flats are also available in the surrounding municipalities, but public transport is only guaranteed at certain times. On weekday afternoons, weekends and public holidays, local public transport is free for students who live in the district of Cham if they are under the age of 23 and carry their student ID.
From 1 October 2023, DIT students will be able to use German public transport for only €38 per month with the reduced Deutschlandticket.
In addition, the district of Cham offers buses on demand. The buses on demand system operates with minibuses and according to a fixed timetable after prior order. Booking is possible daily from Monday to Sunday between 6.30 am and until 9 pm.
More information, timetables and booking options can be found here: www.landkreis-cham.de/rufbus
The electrical engineering laboratory provides a wide range of lab and work stations for experiments, practical courses, final theses as well as research projects. Particular emphasis is placed on classic electrical engineering and metrology. Amongst others, a learning factory of Industry 4.0 with cloud connection and PLC is ready for students to experiment and gain practice experience "in a playful way".
The Embedded / IoT (Internet of Things) Laboratory on Campus Cham provides students with an opportunity to work on projects dealing with the development of embedded systems and IoT applications. Embedded systems are computers integrated in other appliances to control or monitor those. The lab focuses on connecting appliances and sensors with the network and developing IoT applications that collect and analyse data as well as transfer results yielded back to the control.
More projects can be viewed on the Artificial Intelligence for Smart Sensors and Actuators and Mechatronic and Cyber-Physical Systems programme webpages.
