Sustainability and global impact at the DIT
When she moved from bustling Nairobi to the quiet town of Pfarrkirchen, she was enchanted by the city´s green and quiet surroundings as well as the beautiful horses. Despite being a big city girl, Sharon has quickly adapted to the slower pace of life here. She has even taken meditation classes and she is grateful for the opportunity to find her inner peace.
Sharon´s connection to Germany began early in life when her German uncle taught her her first German phrase: “Guten Morgen”. Additionally, her partner lived and studied in Germany and Austria. Therefore, it was a logical step to pursue her degree in Germany. At the ECRI she is impressed by the diversity and she appreciates the counselling programme that is available to support students´ academic and psychological wellbeing.
Sharon is particularly attracted to the ECRI´s focus on sustainability. She is passionate about helping Kenya to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and has spent the last ten years helping people to develop healthy habits around diet, hydration, sleep and physical activity. After graduation, she plans to engage in food security projects in Kenya. She is determined to work for or with a nonprofit organisation with a focus on ending hunger in Africa.
