3 degrees in 1
The Bachelor’s degree programme in Physiotherapy with a specialisation in Kinesiology is a dual study programme that has been available in Deggendorf since 2015. Over the course of nine semesters, you will qualify as a state-registered physiotherapist and earn an academic degree as a Bachelor of Science. DIT collaborates with many regional vocational colleges, as well as those further afield, from Bad Elster to Rotthalmünster. Optionally, at the end of your studies, you can obtain the professional qualification as a sports and movement therapist (DVGS). Ideally, you will therefore gain three qualifications during your degree programme. Studying physiotherapy means that you will be trained to become a reflective practitioner. In addition to profession-specific, practical skills, your learning objectives also include independent learning, interdisciplinary thinking, self-management and personal responsibility, as well as the ability to reflect and solve problems.
- Greater emphasis on workplace health management (integration of the certificate in ‘Systemic Process Consultancy in Workplace Health Management’)
- Focus on the digitalisation of interventions and projects in healthcare
- Expansion of the core area of teaching (lifestyle-related) health literacy

Career Prospects
Physiotherapy is an integral part of the German healthcare system. Contrary to what many people often think at first glance, it is not just about massages or therapy prescribed by doctors. As a physiotherapist, you will work in the fields of health promotion and prevention, rehabilitation, as well as curative and palliative care. In doing so, a scientifically grounded practice, a redistribution of roles and responsibilities within the healthcare system, and interprofessional collaboration in multidisciplinary teams will play an increasingly important role for you. You will design, implement and evaluate health-promoting interventions. During your degree programme, you will gain a broader perspective and be prepared for all these aspects. However, the focus of your work will always be on the individual whose health you aim to promote or restore, or whose suffering you aim to alleviate. Whether working in your own health centre, as a freelancer or as an employee of a health insurance provider, the profession of physiotherapist demands a great deal of personal responsibility. ‘First contact’ and ‘networking’ are not just buzzwords for you, but part of your daily practice. Here, too, your degree will equip you well. As a physiotherapist with an academic background, you’ll have access to additional areas of practice and professional and career opportunities beyond direct patient contact:
- Management roles (therapy manager, team leader) in rehabilitation and acute care hospitals
- Science and research
- Setting up your own business (private practice, health centre)
- Exercise and sports therapy in outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation centres
- Consultancy and coaching in personal health management
- Workplace health management
- Teaching in physiotherapy training and continuing professional development
