31.10.2019 | DIT-Press - From October 21st to 26th Ms. Anastasia Goy, assistant lecturer of the Department of Medical Informatics and Telemedicine of the famous Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) in Moscow visited the European Campus Rottal-Inn (ECRI) in Pfarrkirchen upon invitation of Prof. Dr. Georgi Chaltikyan. The visit aimed to set the ground for a future cooperation between the two institutions in education, research and development in the field of Telemedicine and Medical Informatics.

Ms Goy met with the teaching and assisting staff at ECRI and discussed prospects of cooperation in educational, research and development areas with the ECRI management, including Dean Prof. Dr. Georg Christian Steckenbauer. Possible formats of the upcoming cooperation could be academic exchange of students and staff, joint educational activities (such as bilateral distance learning events, or a Summer School on Telemedicine), and initiation of collaborative research and development projects. As the next step, it is planned to formalize relations between the two institutions through a Memorandum of Understanding.

During her stay, Ms. Goy learned more about the study programs in Digital Health at ECRI while attending lectures in the study programs Bachelor of Health Informatics and Master of Medical Informatics. Ms Goy gave a presentation titled “Telemedicine as a Part of Physician Education” and visited the ECRI facilities including the recently opened Digital Health and Tourism Lab.

RUDN is one of the major highly ranked higher education and research institutions in Russia, with more than 31,500 students in 472 study programs, including more than 9,000 international students from 157 countries (http://eng.rudn.ru/about). The Department of Medical Informatics and Telemedicine was founded as early as in 1992 within the Institute of Medicine at RUDN. Led by Professor Valeriy Stolyar, the unit teaches medical students the specifics of using information and communication technologies in medicine and healthcare. The scientific and academic activity of the Department combines the elements of information technologies, biological research and telemedicine. Like ECRI, the Department is also an Institutional Member of the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH).
