Introducing international students to the country and the culture – DIT's Host Family Programme
DIT's Host Family Programme connects exchange students and local families every semester. As of now, 150 international students are looking for a host family for the winter semester 17/18.
In participating in the Host Family Programme, local families help students who are a long way from home to assimilate into their new environment and to quickly understand cultural differences. The programme is free and can be adjusted individually and flexibly by the hosts. "As a host family/person, you can meet up with one or more students once or several times. Often, students are invited for lunch or dinner and a short trip is planned together", as Ariadna Schmidt, staff member at DIT's International Office knows. Apart from their native language, the students speak English and many of them can communicate in German as well. Due to the increasing interest in the programme, families, individuals or associations from Deggendorf are needed. The goal is the connect every student to a host. Coordinator between the two parties is Marion Löfflmann, who will answer all questions via marion.loefflmann@th-deg.de
