Are you looking for a sport where team spirit takes centre stage? Are you ready to feel the power of the water and glide across the Danube as part of an unbeatable team? Then now is your chance! Our university is launching its own university rowing team for the 2024/25 winter semester and is looking for ambitious students who are keen on a challenge and competition. We invite you to become part of a unique community that aims to achieve great things together on the water.
With our newly acquired racing eight, which has been cutting through the waves for the Canadian national team over the past two years, you’ll have the opportunity to sit in a boat that epitomises teamwork and success. Every time the oars dip into the water in unison, you’ll feel the power of the team propelling you forward. It is precisely this perfect rhythm and the mutual trust within your team that make rowing so special.
Rowing in Germany looks back on a history of over 150 years and has also become firmly established in the academic world. You’ve no doubt heard of the famous Boat Race between the prestigious universities of Oxford and Cambridge, which takes place annually on the Thames. With the Danube right on our doorstep, we have the perfect location for our university to get started in rowing too.
In close collaboration with the Deggendorf Rowing Club, we offer you a long-term, varied and performance-oriented training programme in a professional setting, which not only enhances your athletic abilities but also prepares you physically and mentally for peak performance. As a strength-endurance sport, rowing involves athletic training and, of course, intensive rowing training on the water, where you and your team will learn to unleash maximum power in perfect harmony. An internationally successful coach will guide you from the basics right through to perfection. Through training science and sports medicine support, as well as in-depth knowledge of sports nutrition, you’ll learn to realise your full potential.
Whether you’re an experienced rower or a complete beginner – if you’re ready to embrace rowing as a long-term hobby alongside your studies, you’ll find your place in the team. We’re building both a men’s and a women’s team. Together, we aim to compete in national and international regattas as well as university competitions. Every movement and every stroke counts here as we celebrate success together with your team!
